Babies thrive when they are on a schedule or routine, but parents have to realize that it needs to be flexible and not to expect too much in the beginning. In the first couple of weeks, get your baby to sleep any way you feel is right and is most comfortable for you both. You can start initial sleep coaching in the third week, but don't expect miracles or any significant change in the beginning; this is the best time to lay a foundation for good sleep.
